Sharon Juanita Hawkins Hammett, 64, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, from complications from COVID 19. She was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on August 9, 1956. Sharon was a dedicated wife, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sharon spent many years working in the manufacturing industry, but she later became a hospice nurse. For quite a few years she worked two jobs alongside her husband to make sure her children and grandchildren had whatever they needed.
She was a woman who always put everyone’s needs above her own, never asking for anything in return. Sharon Hammett had an unwavering, selfless dedication to her family and she loved them with her whole heart and soul.
For many years, Sharon suffered with multiple ailments, including MS and fibromyalgia. But Sharon’s strength and positive outlook on life never wavered. She never let pain slow her down. She was always there when you needed her, no matter what else she was dealing with at the time.
Sharon was a fearless Christian who taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to believe in Christ, our Lord and Savior.
She was an amazing cook and took great pride in teaching her children, grandchildren, and anyone else who wanted to learn her Southern “nana” style of cooking.
Sharon loved the great outdoors. She was a great fisherman and had a love like no other for NASCAR. She loved traveling to the lakes and campgrounds in her area to spend quality time with her family. Sharon also loved to visit family in Alaska and go on many adventures, like seeing glaciers, going fishing, skiing, and sightseeing.
Sadly, last November, she contracted COVID-19. Sharon fought this devastating disease with everything that she had, but this would be one fight she would not win. She leaves behind a very loving husband, two adoring sons, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are brokenhearted and shattered by her loss.
Sharon Hammett was an amazing lady with strength like no other. She had kind and gentle hands that came from not only being a wife and mother, but also from caring for so many others as a nurse. She was a woman made of courage, faith, and love who was full of life, laughter, and love. This world has truly suffered a great loss with the death of Sharon Hammett. She is now an angel in heaven, just as she was on earth.
